DANIEL FABER: TRAINING TO TRAIN AT HALF FIVE
Antalya : Many were surprised when they saw the name Daniel Faber, the football player of FC Vojvodina, on the list of passengers for preparations in Turkey. How did this 18-year-old boy end up among the candidates for the first team? It was accidental that he got chosen, due to the fact that the place of Joseph Kizit had to be filled and someone had to challenge the newcomer from Pljevlja, Dusan Nestorovic, on the left side. However, it's not true that young Faber was chosen just to fill a position, because he has proven his qualities time and time again, and that is precisely why he has caught the eye of coach Branko Babic.
- the first time I caught the coach's attention it was in the last round of Quality league of Serbia for young players. We beat the FC Red Star 2:1, and the coach of first team, Babic, was watching the game.
After that I got invited to participate in the training mach with the opponents against the FC Fruskogorac from Sremska Kamenica. Even though the season was practically over, I was happy to hear the coach of young team, Jovo Sarcevic, telling me that myself and a couple of my friends had some extra work during the winter break. The gym exercises have helped me endure the winter preparations much easier, says Faber.
Seemingly fragile, the young player from Sombor, can take on bigger team mates with out a problem, as well as the buffer opponents in Turkey.
He handles the ball easily, he's fast, does not panic, moves well along the out line and all of this makes him seem as though he has played at least half a season with an older team.
-At first, I had some difficulties in Novi Sad, but now I handle it all very well, says Faber.
I am satisfied with how I have played the first game against FC Kosice, dough I am aware I am capable of playing even better.
In the second game, the whole team failed. Still, we shouldn't let that keep us down. There is a lot of young and new players on the team, over time it'll all fall into place.
Daniel is a member of a team of young players of FC Vojvodina, coached by Jovo Sarcevic.
I expect to be playing for the young team in the spring, but also I expect to be given a chance to play for the first team a few times.
I'll do my best, if given the opportunity, Faber feels hopeful.
He started in the famous football school of Sombor, called Spectrum, with the coach Branko Zakic, and then during one tournament he was scouted by FC Mladost from Apatin, and he had spent three seasons playing for their team. Daniel had his brilliant moments in a couple of selective games for the selection of the region.
-FC Partizan called, brought me to Belgrade, but I haven't lasted longer than two months. I was still just a child back then.
After that, with the FC Red Star I have played a game as a guest on the tournament in Foc. They said they'll call me, but after the call of coach Zoran Sarba, inviting me to come and play for FC Vojvodina, there was not a doubt in my mind.
Since the FC Vujadin Boskov didn't have any available rooms I had trained in the FC Radnicki in Sombor. I would travel every Saturday to Novi Sad,by train, and then play a game on Sundays.
The train used to leave at 04:30 am, which meant I used to get up at 04:00 am every Saturday. I can see now that the hard work I've put in is slowly paying off, says Daniel Faber, a student of Technical High school in Novi Sad, and one of the brightest hopes of FC Vojvodina.
I love small football!
I enjoy playing small football, and with my friends from Spectrum I play in tournaments during the winter break in many different places.I have done so many years in a row and I will keep this tradition as long as I feel it does not interfere with my obligations in FC Vojvodina, says this 18-year-old player.
